Wassail 2025: Having a blast at our Winter Cider Festival

Whew! We had such a fun night celebrating the winter and cider at the Wassail last weekend. Huge thanks to all the people who dressed up and turned up. Luckily the weather stayed dry but it was a blowy night and the band were relieved when we moved them inside the shed!

Here's some photos of the night. If you got any more please send them to us!

Once the fire started it really started! After a short blessing of the trees the fire was a welcome source of heat!

Dressing up isn't essential but it is a lot of fun. Banging pots to scare the spirits from the orchard is however absolutely critical.

The Cicada Club returned this year with their amazing musical skills and repertoire. They really got the Wassail going and enjoyed their cosy spot at the back of the cidery.

Whether you were having a cold cider or a delicious mulled cider, a fairy costume could only make the night more fun.
Wassail reveller with a homemade antler costume and a bottle of cider for her trouble
Every year we award a King or Queen of the orchard. This year it was Ref with this amazing combination complete with home-mage antlers.  Love it! She was rewarded with a bottle of our Sparkling Cider for her dedication!

People enjoyed their delicious sweet and savoury crepes in the cosy cellar door.

Some dressed up, others just dressed warm! Great to have new and old friends along.

Apparently the Op shop is a great place to rug up if you're a glamour couple!
Two Wassailers dressed as Elves with flowers in their hair.
The elves were not on the shelf. They were out enjoying a cider and enjoying the music with their magnificent ears!

Costumes were not mandatory, but warm clothes and cider WERE essential.

John from the Cicada Club lead the ceremony from the orchard down to the now-roaring fire. No chance of losing him in the night with those bells on his legs!

It's a great night to get a few friends together.

We love costumes! Although that beard was very real. What is the Parisian at the back left so amazed about?

Romanian Delights are a family affair and this legend did an amazing job delivering crepes to hungry people all night.

Stylish head-wear was available and worn by only the most fashionable.  Have you got a Small Acres Cyder Beanie yet?

Thanks everyone who came along and got into the spirit! We had a fantastic night. Starting to plan the next one on the 1st of August 2026. Make sure you are on our email list to hear when tickets go out.
Orange Winter Fire Festival continues for us at the Balloon Glow at the showground tomorrow night the 9th of August.  More mulled cider to be had there. Cannot wait!
