A delicate aperitif: Our Sparkling Perry is great for a celebration or with light summer dishes. To the traditionalist a Perry is an alcoholic beverage made from pears, not apples and a blend of fresh pears is what you will find in our Perry.

Sparkling Perry is a Methode Traditionelle sparkling pear cider: Over 12 months maturing in the bottle (on the Lees) before being hand riddled and disgorged to the sounds of true crime podcasts.

100% fresh pressed pear flavours and aromas with a clean, crisp medium dry finish. Bottle fermented and some natural sediment may remain. Serve chilled on any fun occasion or with a pear and walnut salad.

Full Tasting Notes for Sparkling Perry:

Colour: Brilliant light straw in colour with a subtle green hue and a fine persistent mousse.
Aroma: Subtle yet elegant aromas of fresh cut, ripe and juicy pears with a hint of snowpea and honeysuckle. There is a touch of brioche complexity adding further interest.
Palate: A light to medium bodied, sophisticated sparkling with lovely fresh pear and minerality.
The palate shows the cool climate fruit purity balance with natural acidity which is refreshing and cleansing. The fruit sweetness is well balanced adding lovely creaminess whilst finishing with a mouth-watering delicacy. This is a perfect aperitif.

What is Perry? Is it the same as Pear Cider?

Perry is another name for a cider made from Pears.  In some countries like the US, pear cider and Perry can mean different things. In Australia there's no legal difference between them. They are both alcoholic drinks made from pears. Some pear ciders contain apple juice, added water or are sweetened with sugar.

In our case our Sparkling Perry is made from 100% fresh pears; typically a blend which contains some Perry-specific "Gin" and "Green Horse" pears that we grow in our orchard and mainly more commonly found dessert pears like Beurre Bosch and Packham Pears (an Australian variety first grown down the road in Molong!).

Our "Poire" pear cider is also made from 100% fresh Australian pears. Why don't we call it "Perry" too? Just because most Aussies wouldn't know what that was. But you do so tell your friends!
